Below you will find some kitchen tea ideas and suggestions for kitchen shower gifts that will be personable and will be treasured by the couple for years to come.

Aside from the main bridal shower, it is common for the bride and groom's family and/or bridesmaids to host a kitchen tea party. This tea party is intended to make sure the couple is set up with all the little things that often get overlooked at the main bridal shower

Who Hosts a Kitchen Shower?

A kitchen tea bridal shower is usually hosted by the bride and grooms family, the maid of honor, the bridesmaids, or a combination of all three, who organize the invitations, games, food, and so on.

Because a kitchen tea is more intimate with a bride's closest family and/or friends, it is limited by it's nature in size.

Some examples of situations that are perfect for such a tea are:

  • The bride or groom's family who lives at a distance and won't be attending the regular shower can host a kitchen tea with small gifts to make it easy for the couple to travel back with out having to ship things or pack extra luggage.
  • The bridal party, nice for everyone to have a relaxed evening together as a couples party, especially if they don't all know each other too well. Of course spouses of the bridesmaids and groomsmen can be included too.
  • Ladies from the office, school or other work; this makes a nice parting party if the bride is not returning after her wedding.
  • Students: I personally had this when I got married, I had been working in a girl's dormitory and they all got together and bought so many items like utensils, hot mitts, towels, and other kitchen accessories that I still use today. It was very endearing and so thoughtful for the other dorm mothers to have planned for me, which was a surprise party.
  • Ladies from special clubs or groups she belongs to like a literary group, bible group, or any others.

These groups can all host a tea for the bride in addition to the main bridal shower. It is a special one for their group to show the bride how much they wish her well and can be done at one of your regular meetings very simply.

The following Kitchen tea ideas can be used as themes, or just as shower gift suggestions if any one asks you for unique ideas of what to get the couple.

Ask them to also personalize it with notes of special traditions and or different ways of presentation.

Hint: Use first middle and last name initials for a larger variety of items.

Ask all the guests to bring a book. This is a gift that people can either go very small with or very big – books range in price from $5 to $100+! Cookbooks, home making, handyman projects or home decorating books would be very suitable.
