Tea Sandwiches for a Bridal Shower

by Iovanna
(Florida)

Question: We are interested in several finger sandwich recipes for an afternoon Bridal Shower. By the way, love your website.

Iovanna

Answer:Hello Iovanna,

Thank you for your inquiry about tea sandwiches. One thing you will want to consider are the preferences of the bride and any allergies of guests. Make sure your guests know there is seafood or nuts (or other typical things people are allergic to) in different items.

Here is one recipe I use a lot, is super easy and is a huge hit every time.

Pina Colada Tea Sandwiches

1 8oz cream cheese, softened
1/4-1/2 jar pineapple preserves(depending on how much pineapple flavor you want)
1 tsp coconut extract

Mix all ingredients together, and spread on thin sliced sandwich bread, top with another slice of bread. Trim crusts, and cut each into quarters diagonally. This makes 10 or more sandwiches (40 triangles) depending on how thick you apply the spread.

A fun option is to have open faced sandwiches. Small baguette bread is great for this or mini bagels. I have even used butter crackers in a pinch and this has turned out to be the favorite of most guests!

Some more options of course are the traditional cucumber sandwich, chicken salad, egg salad, turkey and swiss, Ham and cheddar... Arrange all on your tiered platter for a lovely effect.

The secret to great tea sandwiches is lots of flavor!

I hope this is beneficial for you, and give my congrats to the bride!
